Mindanao Sustainable Agrarian and Agriculture Development (MinSAAD)
This development project is envisioned to contribute to the alleviation of poverty thru the development of agri-business, generation of employment, and promotion of peace and order, and thereby in the improvement of the quality of life of the target beneficiaries and their communities. Generally, it aims to increase household income by enabling the ARBs/farmers and their organizations to engage in more profitable income generating activities on a sustainable basis thru the provision of agricultural and agribusiness development support, rural infrastructure and capacity development in the target settlement areas.
Goals
The Project supports the country’s specific medium term development plan (or the PDP) objectives for which the Japan‟s Country Assistance Strategy (CAS) is focused.
These are in the areas of:
• Alleviating poverty
• Development of agribusiness
• Generation of employment
• Promotion of peace and order
• Improving the quality of life of the target beneficiaries and communities
Objectives
Objectives: The Project aims to increase household incomes by enabling the farmers and their organizations to engage in more profitable income-generating activities, on a sustainable basis, through the provision of rural infrastructure and capacity building in the target settlement areas.
Specifically, the Project aims to:
1. Increase agricultural productivity, product value and income of ARBs and other small scale farmer
2. Provide organizational capacity building support;
3. Increase competitiveness and sustainability of agriculture in covered areas;
4. Provide or improve the water supply facilities in under-served barangays and sitios as a first step to poverty alleviation; and
5. Enhance environmental conditions in the Project area.
Locations: 3 Regions (7 Provinces)
Region 10 : Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte
Region 11: Compostella Valley / Davao de Oro and Davao del Sur
Region 12: North Cotabato, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat
